Some of the factors that may affect the accuracy of eye-witness perception and testimony.
I think eyewitness perception is inaccurate, and may be strongly influenced by preconceived notions. You see what you want to see - if there is nothing "interesting" for you to see, then you will not "see" anything at all! All I have to say is that the "eye-witness" is worth very little, unless the person is close to be involved personally.
how much do you see everyday, and how much do you recall?

Very little of both, apparently.

a lot of what an eye-witness recalls does depend on preconceived notions, but it also depends on the individual. my husband and i are very aware of our surroundings - him even more so than i - so if either of us were asked to describe a scene, i think we could do it with relative accuracy.

as for how much i see and recall... it depends. if i'm at home all day i really see nothing (unless i hurt myself). if i'm out and about, i see a lot. especially having a child, i look at all the people around me, pay attention to what my child is doing, and do whatever the reason for me being out is. how much i remember - well, if it's not particularly eventful, not a lot. there's no reason to.
