This is in becoming a U.S. citizen, for Social Studies. I just need to know how the applicant's ability to read and write English, how they measure it.

Not very demanding. Fairly easy questions, They ask you to read a paragraph and write a sentence, they are very nice to the immigrants.

Well, When you go into the exam room. They will ask you to take an oath (to tell the truth etc.) and then the representative will ask you questions(if you applied you should have the sheet of questions and answers) on basic American history. I mean it''s at a junior high school level - anyway they will ask you read a paragraph, and write a sentence. Essentially, you must speak english (however, they do provide interpreters). Basically, if you can read and remember elements from the sheet they provided you'll be fine. Don't be scared - they are human !

they need the ability to read and write Engish to pass the required tests for Citizenship

They don't. In Texas, every official document, including ballots are in English and mexican.

don't know. do they have to speak english as well? shouldn't be that hard, haven't you ever heard one of W. Bush's speaches?
