Long time ago, comming home from a party - was getting a ride home with friends - I was in the back seat. We were getting gas at a station.
There was a woman by a phone booth and she looked tattered and disoriented. The guy driving & in front seat didn't want to get involved. I leapt out of the back seat with my girlfriend in tow behind me.
The woman was trying to call home but having difficulty. She wasn't a junkie, it turned out she had been crossing the street by a freeway off ramp & had been hit by a car. She was in shock. Nobody noticed her stumbling around and needing help!!
We called the paramedics and while on the phone with 911 she had a sesure. We waited for the ambulance with her and called her husband telling him which hospital to meet her at.
==============================================
Another time, my sister-in-law & I helped a woman in NY on the FDR - we came upon her after she had crashed into the median. It didn't look like anyone had responded yet. We pulled over to help her - we called 911. We found her celphone and called her husband giving him the details of accident & hospital(same thing).
She was in shock too. I thinks she broke some ribs. Luckily a volunteer EMT pulled over and helped her. Police & ambulance came we gave a statement and that was it.
So I guess, the nicest thing I did for these people was to get involved when others thought someone else would intervene to help. And I decided I was going to act and not assume someone else would come along with help.

Every day, I try my best to be kind. That's harder than the 'bigger' things, at least for me. Several times though I've bought food, or paid bills, or even rent for someone else. A couple times, like now, I've taken someone in & given food & shelter so that someone can get back on their feet.
Okay. I wasn't shy & I told you, now what's the nicest thing you've ever done for another person???

I'm always doing nice things for people but I guess whatever meant the most to the person who was on the receiving in of my niceness was the nicest thing.

gave a family a ride home, they were walking and it was raining out, I felt bad for them so I offered to give them a ride home, there was 6 of them 3 children and 3 adults.
I am always giving people a ride around town to places people need to go that do not have transportation.

Saved his life. I was the only witness to a motorcycle accident. If I hadn't stopped and called for help, he would have died. The paramedics would've never found him where he landed if I hadn't seen it. I also stop all the time when I see an accident and render aid.

Opened a door for a neighbor in the condo I live in and let them go first, as I close the door behind me too. That also goes double for elevator doors.
