Not sure about the legality, but I would say it is unethical. If the company is going to tape an interview for future review or for training then there is no reason to keep it secret. Usually the expected gains from doing something like that are suspect. They may just want to use the tapes to review the applicants at a later time, but once again why not divulge the information up front?

It can be taped, but not used in court. At least where I live. Each states laws differ, most places just 1 party needs to know.

It is illegal to tape an individual without his prior knowledge and consent. However,it may be admissable in a Court of Law in a civil matter with leave of Court but not in a Criminal Court. (a solicitor)

not used against you but they could use it for further interview purposes. it is unethical but say for instance that they are interviewing 70 candidates per day. they are unable to carefully choose a worthwhile candidate after 70 interviews so instead of overlooking the good ones, they interview them so they can all take notes together and review the pros and cons of each applicant. but, they could just be being shady and want to talk shyt about the losers they had to sit through...but NO they cant use it against you in any way.

It is not illegal to do it but it is a very pointless thing to do because if the person doing the taping did not ask for permission then it cannot be used under any circumstances. Funny thing is that if they had asked for permission and had it granted then it could be used even if that person later refused permission

It's illegal for anyone to tape you without your knowledge. Even areas with CCTV must display a sign to let you know you are being recorded.

Depends on which state this happened in, and whether they use Federal Law in these instances.

You have to be told that you are being taped.
