Sometimes a lot of women don't become regular until they have 1) gotten on the pill 2) had a baby. I was the same, never regular or predictable until after my first child was born. Maybe you can get on the pill just to make them more regular.

At this point, it's perfectly normal to have irregular periods. While it's true that birth control pills regulate the menstrual cycle, you have no other need to take them and is not necessarily the right choice for you. That's up to your doctor and you to decide together.

Until the time your cycles become regular (which is normal to happen right away, or several years from the onset), you just need to always have feminine products with you (that's why we have purses!) and to learn to listen to your body. If you pay attention to yourself, you will probably discover that your body will give you certain signs that your period is about to start.

Above all, don't worry. While there are "averages" for women, there are all kinds of "normal" when it comes to this. You should be under the care of a doctor, and if you haven't had a gyn exam yet, you should. It's not that big of a deal, and this is the best time to do it -- before you become sexually active.

If anything about your body worries you, talk to a trusted older woman or health professional (this is where school nurses come in handy -- they will drop everything to listen if you begin a serious conversation with them, it sure beats dealing with kids just wanting to be "sick" and get out of a math test).

The thing about irregular periods is that it will happen to you again -- at the other end of your cycles! You'll be regular for years and years, maybe have kids, maybe not, and then you'll begin to get irregular when your time to have periods comes to an end. And even during all those "regular" years you will have times when the calendar just doesn't jive with your body.

It's all perfectly normal. But be sure that you're getting the right medical checkups and that you TALK to someone you trust (not just us bored people on the internet) whenever you have any questions or concerns.

Yeah honey that happens sometimes. If you want to find a way to regulate your period you may want to use birth control pills. Many young girls who are not sexually active have opted to use birth control pills to regulate their periods. Some pills, including brands such as Yaz, allow you to cut down your period to 2 days per cycle. I hope this has helped.

Maybe see an OB/GYN and get on the birth control pill...NOT for the sex reason..but it will help regulate your periods better..it worked for me...and I started taking them at 16..and I was a virgin at the time..

Have your mom call the gynocologist and get you on the pill. It will straighten your periods right out and you will know when you are going to get them. My daughter had the same problem and she is now ok. And she never had sex either.
