The PS3 will launch in the US and Japan on November 17th. In America, it will cost $500 (for a low-end version) or $600 (for a high end version). Sony recently announced that in Japan only, the low-end version will cost around $420 USD (likely because they're worried about the Wii, which is launching two days later on the 19th). The US price will remain unaffected. The PS3 launch has been delayed in Europe until March of next year.
If you want a PS3, you had better preorder now. It might already be too late. Only 400,000 PS3s will be available in the US on launch day, and only 100,000 will be available in Japan (compared to the Wii which will launch with 6 million units available). This is due to a shortage of Blu-Ray drives for the consoles, so Sony needs time to manufacture more.

i know it will cost $600 for 60 MB or GB and $400 for 40 MB or GB. not sure on the release date. i know the wii is $250 and comes out 11/19/06. so maybe Sony will try to compete with that and make it sometime around then.

Yes the normal PS3 which i think is the 20GB will cost $410, but the 60GB will stay at the current price that was said before...i think it was $600 or so.

New News from sony: The PS3 will only cost $410 for the lesser of the two versions... I'm not sure how much the other will be..
