Do any of you have to wear school uniform?

I've been transferred to a new school and they have a uniform: Grey blazer, blue and black skirt, white blouse, blue and black tie, cream knee high socks and black shoes. We also have a blue v neck sweater which is optional.

Going from a school that didn't have a uniform, I don't really like it.

What's yours like? Do you like it?

Jessica

Mine was:
Green knee-length plaid skirt
Navy pants/Navy shorts
White colored t-shirts for girls, pale blue for boys
Sweaters with the school's logo emblazened on

I HATED having a uniform. I wore the stupid outfit, and the second tuition got to high, I thanked God, left, and never looked back. Actually, you'll get used to the uniform. Even so, you might want to petition for a more modern uniform, or one that doesn't shout, "Look at me! I'm colorblind!" Get 200 kids or more to sign. Who it is doesn't matter, just as long as they're against the uniform that you have now.

Coming from schools where Ive had to wear uniforms all day, every day, I'll just start by saying its not the end of the world. I know it's different to suddenly change but you'll get used to it and find ways to make the uniform your own. My uniform as of right now is either a white polo or white blouse with a black watch tartan mini and navy knee highs. My school used to be really strict with things like shoes and jewelry but they've lightened up and changed the rules a bit. It's not so bad and saves a ton of time in the morning. Plus the clothes you can wear whatever you want to free dress days. And you can save that extra money you earn from babysitting and put it towards something more useful (new convertable anyone?). With time you'll learn to appreciate the upside of the uniform. And hey, if that plan fails you can always look for loopholes in the uniform rules. Some of the girls at my school like to wear beater shirts under their polos. Above all, dont stress and try to have fun at your new school!

I love my school uniform. It saves the question of "What am I gunna wear this morning." You don't have much of a choice. Also, everyone looks the same, so it's not like you can be judged on your brand of clothes or anything, because it's the same for everyone. If you want to be different, why don't you wear a big beaded necklace or something like that? A lot of people do that at my school and looks good, and sets them apart from everyone.

Hi Jessica,

Schools in most countries require their students to wear a uniform. School is for education. The uniform removes the distraction of students wearing different outfits, many of which are inappropriate.

Your uniform doesn't sound so bad. I hope you come to like it.

I used to where uniforms all through grade school and high school. It made it easy to get ready in the morning! I prefer uniforms because I never had to worry about being uncool and not having the right clothes to wear. Be positive!

My daughter has to wear a uniform to school, and I agree that it takes the guessing out of what to wear, and if you are not uber-rich, you are not competing with the kids that Moms and Dads are uber-rich.
Plus, I wear a uniform to work, I am in the medical field, so my daughter realizes that sometimes in life you are told what to wear. I think uniforms in school are a great idea. Like others have mentioned, it takes the emphasis off of what you are wearing to what you should be learning.

Mine was:

Gray-checkered buttoned down polo
Knee-length fitted gray skirt
White socks (ankle length) and black shoes (had to be polished!)

With that, we also had to wear our ID tags around our necks at all times. They were red and blue. No jewelry was allowed (except for a watch) and there was even haircut restrictions! hahaha.

On other days, we had to wear regular straight cut blue jeans, a cotton white shirt (from the school) that needed to be tucked into the jeans; a black belt with this huge gold buckle on it that needed to be shiny and well-polished (or points would be taken off); black socks, black polished shoes (points would be taken off too if shoes weren't as shiny as they could be; we all had our own shoe shine kits in our lockers! haha) and again, the ID tag and no jewelry (points taken off if a girl had even just earrings on) ... and girls needed to either tie up their hair, if it was possible, or if short, neatly fix it somehow with clips or again, your grade goes down.

I don't have a uniform, I have a dress code. You can't have any rips in your jeans above the knee (which isn't enforced), you can't wear spaghetti straps (which is enforced), you can't wear chains on your pants (which isn't enforced-there's too big a goth population at my school), and you can't wear bandannas (who would want to?). I feel really sorry for you that you have to have a uniform. I guess you can wear what you want on the weekends. (like that makes you feel better lol)

we don't have a school uniform, but we have a very strict dress code. Remember, a lot of times, uniforms are used to prevent immodesty or gang symbols. plus, remember you might be allowed to jazz it up with funky jewelry or hairstyles/haircolors. Also, you can use it as a 'good girl' disguise. Where it if you have to go to court, for your driver's license, and waste your clothing money on crazy weekend party clothes.

Isn't that great? You don't have to worry about what to wear, and there won't be any jealousy from your peers. Be thankful for your good luck. When I went to school, we wore navy blue tunics with white blouses and navy sox. And some of the Parochial schools still wear that.
