I light candles a lot, and when the match goes out, I chuck it in the garbage can. I'm always afraid it's going to re-ignite and catch everything in there on fire!

if u wet it, you have a chance of having the head fall off. the proper way to dispose of a match according to the California Institute of Fire Hazard Safety is as follows:
1. Hold match and blow gently so as to not blow head off
2. Lightly feel with fingertip to make sure it is not too hot to touch
3. Cup hand and place match in hand
4. Run cold water over the match that is in your hand for 5-10 seconds.
5. Dispose of

Hold the tip under the fawcett for a sec, before you toss it in the trash can.

after you use the match run it under cold water and just simply throw it in the garbage...works ever time.

Best way is to throw it in the fireplace.

Hold it under running water, then discard it.

wet it and throw in trash. Thats what I do..
