I know that Henry the eighth of england divorced his first wife for failing to produce a male heir and beheaded his second wife on the same grounds. I'm sure there were other kings who did the same.

Why in the world do people answer questions when they don't know the correct answer!? It was Henry the Eighth of England.

He had six wives, and their fates were: divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. The third wife died giving birth to Henry's only son. Elizabeth I, the daughter of the first murdered wife, became queen after the only male heir, Edward VI, and her older sister "Bloody" Mary died young.

King Henry the 8th (VIII) had two of his six wives beheaded, not necesarily for not producing male children...it's a bit more complicated than that. His second wife was executed for treason, basically so Henry could marry Jane Seymour. He executed Catherine Howard, his 5th wife, for adultery. The only one who produced a male heir was Jane Seymour, but she dies soon after childbirth and her son died at age 15.

Henry VIII beheaded two wives no because they didn't have male children but because he said they were sleeping with other men.

i think you are talking about henry VIII. still, he only had two of his six wives beheaded, and it was for other reasons. anne boleyn and catherine howard were both beheaded because he wanted rid of them and couldn't get a divorce, so he fabricated a charge of adultery and had them beheaded on the merits of that. in those days there were loads of monarchs who did that kind of thing though, usually they had their little wifeys poisoned when they got bored with them. read robert browning's poem "my last duchess" on that subject some time. :-)

Henry the eighth is most notorious for it. He divorced 2, beheaded 2, 1 died and the last survived him.

I believe you are referring to Henry the 8th. He beheaded Ann Boleyn. Technically she was executed for infidelity as was another wife. Ironically, it is the male who has the most influence over the sex of a child.
