I watched it this weekend and noticed 3 different episodes came on right after the other. Is this a new series?

It was a series on FX that looked to have a lot of promise. Unfortunately the show did not live up to the promise. Andre Braugher was great but the writing was sloppy. It was difficult to feel for any of the other characters, despite what was happening to them. I watched 2 and a half episodes before I gave up on it.
If you liked the premise, you might want to give Smith on CBS a try. The idea is the same (suburban man lives secret life as a thief). Being one of the big channels, CBS might be willing to give the idea more of a chance to carry through.

It was cancelled. Those 3 episodes were half the series. Why? Becuase Andre Braugher is so good that he made the show suck. The only thing that would've made 'Thief' work is if they fired everyone on the first day and re-cast Andre Braugher as everyone on the show. He'd play himself, he'd play his boss, he'd play his stepdaughter, and his wife.
