Giving to the poor yourself, of helping people is quite different than being forced to do so. And as long as there is a system forcing us to do so, there will be people taking advantage of the system causing a downward spiral of that system.

They have a concern for the poor which is good, but in their zeal to rob the rich and give to the poor, they destroy jobs, the economy, and the general will to work. Check into the liberal paradise of Sweden that has a generous welfare system, MASSIVE UNEMPLOYMENT!

A good school of thought is a balance of both but ALWAYS favor job creation, that is truly the best way to help people!

Have you ever considred that the reason people wiht a lot of money can have many times more than their fellow citizens and not constantly be under attack by those have-nots is because their is an unspoken contract. The haves will withstand higher taxes so that the poorest and most unfortunate have-nots have a basic level of human dignity in their existence. In exchagne they agree to let you keep your weath even though you flaunt it, or you may not have worked very hard to get it (inheritence), and they desparately need it. The poor aren't "kept in check" by our tremendous police power, they keep themselves in check because on some level they agree with the system.

Have you ever considered that social programs for the poor such as social security and medicaid acutally have the effect of preventing someone from killing paris hilton and selling the $20,000 bag she keeps her dog in to buy an operation for their child?

We also believe that hte greatness of a society is directly related to our ability to care for the least of our citizens. The rich live fabulously well in Mexico. But Mexico is not a "great country" because many people lack basic necessities of life.

I take it that you have never been poor. That is well and fine for you. Why do you have such a hard heart that you dont like the idea of helping out the poor???????? But for the grace of God go I. Try walking a mile in someone elses shoes before you condemn them.

I do apologize to you, my mistake.

Why do the neocons think it is so noble to spend over $500 Billion on a war that was totally unneeded ? .. $500 Billion and counting of YOUR hard earned money .. out of YOUR taxes. $500 Billion. Do you know what you could do with that much money ?? Who is taking your money and spending it on what ?? I suggest you look to the President and ask him for your money back . Good Luck ! :)

Honestly I think they are closet socialists. Either thator they really just don't know what capitalism means, what it really is. I'm all for helping the helpless, but there are too many people acting helpless so they don't have to work.

The Welfare State you refer to disappeared years ago. Why are you still yammering about it?
