Due to a health condition I've got to buy mostly allergy friendly organic food but my weekly food bill is like twice as high as the average shopper and its really ashame that healthy food is so expensive,it should be easier to eat the right way!

Shop mostly around the perimiter of the grocery store. (Produce, dairy, butcher/deli and bakery.) You get healthier ingredients and the cost is usually less.

Try farmers' markets for produce; the quality is usually better and what you get is much fresher.

Also, avoid mainstream grocery stores for organic products--they ALWAYS jack up the price. Try Trader Joes instead. Whole Foods is ridiculously overpriced, although their selection is superior.

I spend about $25-30/week on food. I'm a vegetarian and meat is the big ticket item, so I save a lot right there. I can't eat soy either because of my thyroid condition. I do eat small amounts of poultry, fish and eggs. I'm frugal and will eat oatmeal for breakfast at about 10¢ per serving. I grow some of my own and shop at our local farmers' market. Our supermarket marks down day-old breads so I pick up bargains on whole-grain breads. It's possible to eat fresh, healthy and organic on a budget if you look around!

Yep my food bill is throught he roof as well. I've recently discovered that I have loads of food intolerances, wheat, dairy, citrus, sugar. Whih makes it difficult to find food I can eat. Health and Organic food is way to expensive I probably spend about $130 a week but try to buy lots of rice and dried nuts and fruit out of the bargain supermarket to keep costs down. Same with organic food if it's int he supermarket it's generally cheaper than in a health food shop!

If you have intolerances try taking a daily dose of acidophilous which rebalances the bacteria in your stomach!

I have found a very good meal replacement for about $2.25/meal. The meal was developed by scientists and gives you all the nutrients you need. It also is manufactured to the same pharmecutical grade that all US meidications are held to, making the ingredients accurate to what is on the label! For more info go to my site and contact me
