I feel that I have a great talent for counseling people, but traditional counseling/psychology as it is taught in most schools goes against what I believe to be the best way to help people. Is there anyway I can counsel people without getting a masters or doctoral degree?

You shouldn't without any training- most of the people going for counselling are very vulnerable and shouldn't be hurt in any way- they need handling with care and need proffessional treatment. I understand from your question that you are a very caring person- but counselling can rebound if all you are is caring- you need to provide proffessional help to people. http://gracchii.blogspot.com/

People will want your educational experience and it doesn't sound good if you say well I feel this and this.

Most universities teach many different counselling methods , not just one particular type.

I'd want to have as vast amount of knowledge I could have at my disposal as you have someone's psyche and life in your hands.

Go to school, get those degrees.

Have you ever heard the expressio a little knowledge can be dangerous? Get more than a little knowledge.

No, legally you have to have a license to do it and the education. Counseling is more than just offering your opinion on things.

You could take the courses and become a life coach. They typically don't have to have a masters or doctorate degree.
