Sober for sure. Drunken ninjas are another matter though.
Granted though, if the samurai was drunk you may be able to convince him that you were his master and thus he must do your evil bidding. Just a guess though.

I would think a sober one because as one drinks alcohol, relfexes are diminished. He'd be flailing around instead of 'hitting the mark'. so to speak.

hard to say. it depends if that samuri is a funny drunk or a violent drunk
lol i can picture it right now...

uhh...gee. i like the funny one more. at least that one has a sense of humor. thats a once-in-a-lifetime-chance, that is.
