first, concider the # of pregnancy.
If this is your first, you want a doctor who delivers at a well equipted hospitol near you.
Next ask the doctor what hospitols they work out of, this way you have a choice.
ask if they do bloodwork, ultrasounds, and nonstress test in their office, if not, then it is likely you'll be bouncing all over the place , always on the phone trying to get an appointment.
I think these are always the things I look for when finding an ob/gyn.

I found my OB by using the yellow pages, going down the list, and choosing the first one that didn't have a 3-month waiting period just to get in for a first appointment. Luckily, she turned out to be super awesome. I wouldn't really recommend this method.
Now that I actually have friends that have kids, I would ask them first. Some really like their doctor, some don't, but stick with them anyway. I think it's really important to like your doctor from the get-go, as you will be seeing more and more of her as you get closer to term.
Good luck!

ask your friends and family, if u cant do that when you call and make your first appt, if he is good he will have a talk visit w/ you b4 he examines you to get a full history on you, if they dont keep, looking I 'love' my ob/gyn he is very thorough and great bedside manner, and that is how my first appt went. Obviously you may have to wait a little bit for office visits but it is worth it

well ask your local doctor if he has any list of good Ob/Gyn that he would recommend, ask around friends that are or have been pregnant and see if they recommend any one. good luck!
