Several reasons, really. The first is that they've been around for so long, winning the first superbowl. They've had NFL legends like Bart Starr, Reggie White, Brett Favre and Vince Lombardi. Favre is one of the most respected quarterbacks in NFL history, who has overcome and BEAT alot of problems, but personal and not.
They're owned "by the people" of Green Bay, a relatively small city to have any professional sports franchise. They've played some of the best and most legendary NFL games (Ice Bowl, SB's vs Patriots and Broncos), and the fans of Green Bay are like no other.
Really, how can you not love them unless you live in Minnesota or Chicago.

They aren't loved by everyone first of all. I don't think the Packers are too popular in Chicago!
But, yes they are popular. They have a rich history going back long before even the Lombardi era. They have an old stadium and play in a small market. And many people admire that.
Brett Favre has done a great job of keeping it alive as well.

They have a great history...always a humble team...and Favre just becomes a mascot for how that team is always putting the game and winning before anything else...but it hasn't been just him...Driver also....yeah
I'm a Carolina fan and I'd have to say I cheer for Green Bay also (And the Chargers for some reason, I think it might be LT and Favre playing a factor in those.)

It has to do with history. Lombardi is one of the greatest coaches ever, and Favre is an HOF QB. Personally I don't like them at all. The latest team to get that kind of adoration is Pitt and I hate them with a freakin passion. They should not have been in the playoffs last year, should not have gotten past the Bengals, should not have been in the SB, and if it wasn't for the refs they would have gotten their cans handed to them in the SB. Evidence...look at their record. They are an average team who got extremely lucky, with some help from the league.

Because Green Bay is home of CHEESE. Everybody loves CHEESE. Oh, and Favre. Favre leads them through every game. Even though i would hate for Favre to retire, i think that he is getting too old. GO GREEN BAY!!!!

I think it's because of their small-town roots. Plus, they're community-owned and can never leave (or they probably would have many years ago). It's like a college team; they're not going anywhere, so you don't have to hold them at arm's length. Heck, even the Cleveland Browns' fans got stung by a relocated franchise.
That, and it helps that their QB is a country bumpkin who's simple folk, like most of us Packer fans.

Because the Packers are in a tiny town, owned by the fans, and have the greatest qb in NFL history.

Because they're the only team owned by the "people." They've been around for a long time and have lots of history of great players and, of course, Vince Lombardi.

because brett favre is a class act. if you don't like him, you don't respect the game. not saying you have to be a fan of his, just at least respect him. w/ this being his last year (probably) i think everyone deep down wants him to do well.
