Our Rottweiler is by far the best dog we have ever had. She is a teddy bear compared to our rat terriers who have actually bit our neighbor. Our children also adore her. So far, I don't see any books flying my way!! We got her not because we have some type of inferiority complex (hubby has a 6 pack ab but no bulge, and I am only 5'2" which is hardly the way bouncers look), because she is our protector. There was a serial killer killing women in the state I live in 3 years back and my husband was working out of town alot at the time. I asked about 10 policemen what type of dog that I could get for a family dog as well as a protector, and they all said a Rottweiler. We researched the best breeder and bloodline and are happy owners of a Schutzhund trained Rottie. The breeder we bought her from actually has 13 beautiful Rottweilers and is a local preacher. My husband nor I are drug users much less selling them, the only plants we have are tomato plants in the summer.
I agree that some people shouldn't have this breed as they don't know how to be responsible. When owning a dog of this magnitude it shouldn't be a trophy and our's is not.

yes you are right, ive never understood people who own pets. There is a sudden craze in my city where young lads are now buying pitbulls and rotties as a fashion statement, it obviously comes from the protection element of being a dealer or a gangster, only thing is, is that the real gangsters and the real drug dealers are all sitting on yachts wearing a cream armani suit looking at how to turn their empire into a legitamite business, because they are intelligent business men, not idiots who have to have a dog in order to collect 200 quid.
I posted a question on here a while back asking why people give more to animal charities then people charities, you should have seen the amount of complaints i recieved, as far as i am concerned animals are below humans.

These dogs were not pets but used as a deterrent. If a dog of any breed is used to human contact from being with a family then they will be loyal and loving. The dogs were kept away from human contact (on the roof during opening hours) and only listened to their master who happened to be away on holiday. The dogs were made that way by the owner.

I think people should be fully aware of the facts before they make statements and pass judgement on others who own rottweilers.

I own a rottie and I have a child. I have never had a better or more loyal dog before. Any dog or any animial could hurt a child. So your stereotype to the breed of dogs is incorrect. I'm not a ugly bouncer and I don't have a beer gut. I also am not a drug dealer.

Well, I agree. Its this personality thing. 'Some' men who need to look hard or tough use the dog with a ferocious reputation to build their image because they alone cannot do it. They are too weak. Any dog whose breed is known to revert to the pack instinct should be banned by law. How many more babies have to be savaged to death before something is done. And why do people actually choose Rotweillers. All this talk of, I had one and it was areal softie with my kids, is or has had a lucky escape. They just don't understand the breed.

Question or Statement?
If question, answer is; not always but sometimes. People buy cars for similar reasons, it reflects their personality.
If opinion, I would be insulted if I am a rotteweiler. I think I am rather pretty compared to ugly bouncers. I beg your pardon! Where did you get the notion that I have beer guts. I am a teetotaler if your don't mind me saying so! Grrrrrr!

a very good point...i dont have an answer but the subject line has both me and my partner pondering....he is going to investigate while i finish my hot chocolate...he knows more bouncers than me...(and one has a rotty and a beer gut!) however i dont agree with your point about them being devil dogs. all dogs can be bad if they are not taught how to behave, its not the dogs its the owners , even if some people had a poodle they would be evil (i have met one evil minature poodle who ate everything that walked by)

Hmmm. My husband and I had a Rotty for many years. We are both young, educated professionals in the I.T. field, have two small children and our Rotty was nothing but a 110 pound lap dog. She wouldn't stand up to our cat, let alone harm our children. If we ever get another dog, it will be another Rotty.

I know a few of these dogs and they are gentle even with the children.
I still maintain a loving calm atmosphere and not letting dogs run riot will result in a dog that can be trusted with anyone.

the story on the news today about that 5month old baby girl, being killed by 2 rottewielers, was awful to hear, the baby was dragged out of her cot by the dogs, children should not be in the same room with those sort of dogs,i think if you have those sort of nasty dogs then they should have a muzzle on to prevent them from seriously hurting people,
