If the whites had "White History Month" etc. my guess is that all he!! would break loose! What do you think?

I'm not American, but I think it's a bit annoying to have a special ceremony for black people. I know they do not often get awards for film ceremonies... But I don't think it helps them to be put on an equal footing with white people. How about an Asian academy award?! And in which category do people like Halle Berry or Maria Carey fall into?
What I mean is, I think that positive discrimination is good as far as jobs and education are concerned (for obvious reasons), but I don't think that it's very clever to have a ceremony just for black people. As if they couldn't compete with the white! That's a bit ridiculous... But, hey, this is America, country of extremes!
I understand where they are coming from, but...

Guess what? No one would endorse a White Academy Awards show. Ya think Pepsi would advertise? Get over it. How many movies and sitcoms have you watched that had the ONE black person in it? Now you wanna be almighty and say this?

the reason why there is black academy awards is that only few blacks had won the academy awards(whoppi and the list goes on) and the original academy do not represents black people and their culture. how many black films are in the academy awards or have won a major awards. this the opportunity for blacks to show themselves and to award themselves for their work in film and arts. this i believe will promote black cultures and expose many actors, actress, writers and producers. you don't have to be blind to notice that blacks and minority are not fully represent in the original academy awards. blacks are the majority of minorities in the country and whites are the majority. it is okay for blacks, Latinos and Asians to have awards show that promotes their culture but it is not okay for white because this a white country and every thing is based on their culture.

No.Blacks can enter the Miss America pagent.Whites can not enter the Miss Black America pagent.It's like BET. Can you imagine the cries from Farakan,Jessi Jackson and Al Sharpton if someone tried to form WHITE ENTERTAINMENT TELEVISION ??Get used to it.If a white guy kills a black,it is a HATE CRIME. If a black kills a white,it's just murder.SO BE CAREFUL.STOP OPRESSING THE POOR,POOR BLACKS.

Oh please *****...in history all we learn about is what the white man did to contribute to this country...as soon as blacks have black history month you freak out (one damn month out of 12) , grow up and get a life....its funny that this keeps you up at night.
Racism still exist, and people are still treated unequally. Because of this...blacks, as well as other americans need to have their own things...stop the hating...
If blacks didnt do things like this for themselves you'd be saying something negative about that...so dont loose sleep over something like this

We have Scottish Games, OctoberFest, all sort of Euro heritage events, Rennasaince Festivals. Why would we need a white history month? Every month is white history month. Why you need to come off like that sister? Have some dignity!

Agree with you, the most racist people are black themselves. There shouldn´t be black history month, or any typ of black awards, essence, ivory, etc. We should all participate in all events with equal opportunity, racism is so outdated.

Its silly, first African Americans were having problems with separatist now they are acting just like one by having there own TV channel, collages, and organizations.
