Instead of my default homepage i get ads for spyware software...

get a adware/spyware program, and get a virus program, run them often..
Change the homepage yourself.
With the internet browser up, go to tools>internet options>on the home page option, go to the site you want and then with the internet options taskbar up click current. Or with the http:// fill it in yourself....EX: yahoo would be: http://www.yahoo.com

I have my yahoo as my abode web page - i have not said something diverse. What did they do? i keep in mind that they change issues without even telling you about it. in some unspecified time sooner or later you look and each little thing is diverse.
