I really did not mean this to be so complicated...here is an example...when some one loses a lot of weight quickly, they still think that they are fat, when the reality is that they are a normal weight. OR in personality, someone may percieve themselves to be very efficient and cannot understand why they get poor evalutations at work, when in fact they are rude and overly blunt with customers.

I sometimes think I'm ugly and boring, but it turns out most people don't think that.

Being disabled my perception is that I am useless, just a waste of space and air.
But when I look at my son I know that I do have a purpose and that is to be the best mom possible. I think when a woman has a 16 year old son that hugs her every time he walks into the room or will tell her that he loves her even when he is with all of his friends.
So perception can be deceiving.

The perceptions are formed in the eye of the beholders, most of us see what we are expecting to see and we think we can generally project an image of whom we think we are...when this is noticeably out of line with our actions, speech which does not match our deeds or accomplishments and way of life, this person may have a Narcissistic Personality Disorder, (npd)

not just idle boasting but a ...I have done this or that , I can do that

I bring my perceptions of myself into reality, gradually. What I see myself as is sometimes not what I am, but what I can be or what I have the potential to become. Your perception can influence reality.

They do not differ. Your perception of self IS your reality. Someone else's perception of you is built within their own reality and therefore reflects more of themselves than of you.

I guess that the reality is what others think of me Vs. how I think I am percieved

I think I am kind, thoughtful, caring and considerate. I also think I have high standards and I am politically correct. But others think I am bossy, nosey, patronising and selfish. I also have been told I am strict, so says my little neice...What do they know??!!

PERCEPTION: I am God's greatest gift to women.

REALITY: After taking a scientific poll it appears I am God's 3rd greatest gift to women, after chocolate and shopping.

No such thing. Who's to determine the "reality" of me? All we have are opinions.
