good luck to them, i used to manage pubs, restaurants and hotels and if any over 50's came to interviews I'd grab them. Have you not noticed the decline in service lately........

I'd support that as long as bar managers had to retire at 30. If this is the right upper limit for staff surely older management would be out of touch with both staff and their customers.

No, bar staff can be any age as long as they are fit to do the job, ie friendly, fit (alot of running about on a busy night), and have good hearing in a Hog's Head on a Saturday! And as long as they don't value their weekends!

I work in a village pub the bar staff are of varied ages

I agree with Ziggy It is all about the clientelle
and of course finding employees who don't mind unsociable hours

No they should be replaced with vending machines.

Under thirties usually have less responsibilities and know less about life and their rights so are easier for employers to dick about, AND they are generally better looking (fitter).

But, at least 'older' people can be a little interesting.

It is their opinion that counts at the end of the day.
Also, Most people would like to see young energetic people serving them. I have no problems with a person of ANY legal age serving me, but you have to consider the age group of clientele the landlords are trying to attract.

yes it looks better if the staff are younger but under 30 is mayb to far, under 40 def,unless you own it.
