More people have got away for the true purpose of the church is which is soul business, most people refer to the quote in leviticus which says that mankind shall not lie with mankind as he lie with women, not putting anything god or the bible down but the last time i checked that is the same chapter that also says that man shall not eat shell fish and research says that nearly 90 percent of americans eat shellfish at least 5 times during thier life (SHELL FISH: crab, shrip & crawdads) but if we focus so much on the gay issue then why dont we focus on that, I think that we god created us he created us to be good people not to be hateful and cruel people, and the church offers no support was so ever go in almost any church and mention that urs gay and see doesnt the church turn away for u being christans, if anything if u tell me u are gay they should try to do somethin for u if they believe it is so wrong, i am a good person that jus happens to me attracted to other males, anybody else?

I believe you to be correct in the sense that the church's business is to win souls for the Kingdom of God. Instead; it has become that which rejects, alienates, and used as a political platform. I believe God not to be Jew, Gentile, Republican, Democratic, White, Black, Straight, Gay, Man, Woman, or American. Nor do I believe He takes a special interest in such trivial things. What's imperative in His search are the spirits that are encased in the human form; known as mankind. I'm amazed at how many people hate or are turn off from God; based upon the worse humanistic qualities that some Christians provide. They don't represent God; but themselves. Thus they have their just rewards. Remember; God so love the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus)........

don't read the bible....it is only a book that has nothing to do with real life but only has to do with what people along time ago thought of as being right......

In my opinion the bible is a book based on fear. when the bible was first in use the church would make laws to control the public that they ruled. They would make up such outrages things so that the church would benefit.

I'm 16 and gay and have learned alot about religion and the beginnings of religions......

Be gay and love it but also love god and do what is right and not what is in a book.

Think about it....if the bible teaches you that being gay is wrong YET you were born gay then that is just proof that all the bible is false.

Some christians are accepting, peaceful, and caring. Not all are shouting "die f_gg_ts" on the street.

I admit, there seem to be fewer and fewer though. Maybe it's just the press that skews our sense of perception. The press only highlights the wackos.

Even the accepting ones will still try to convert you. You're living a lifestyle they believe is sinful. It's hard for them not to pass judgement.

By the way, I really don't like shell fish. The only exception is crab flavored crab rangoon. Love those. I'd rather have salmon sushi.

The bile teaches us to cast no stones. It also tells us that there are none righteous, no not one. I am a christian, but often run into problems with churches for their being judgmental. Who am i sinner that I am to judge another human being. Who am I to condemn another human being? What kind of christian would I be if I didn't speak against hate crimes and predjudice? I believe that predjudice is the bane of humanity and hate the fuel of destruction. The people who would use christianity to hide behind while they issue statements of hate will be dealt with. Karma has a way of dealing with people such as these. If I deny anyone their place at the table of humanity, then I have wronged all. Not just a few.

The church(es) in this country and others are a MAN-made creation. Most likely right-wing conservative hetrosexual men from the distant past who made the Bible and those who follow them now. Their is nothing wrong with you. It's them that put these thoughts into their scriptures and to everyone's heads that being gay is wrong. It has nothing do with their make believe 'God". It's all THEIR personal ideals on how all humans should live their lives on this earth.

Please be careful here. The only Christians I see that are hateful are here on Yahoo, are from ridiculous Fundamentalist churches, or are Evangelicals....that is really a small group of people when compared to the total Christian population. I may not agree with Christians often, but I don't damn them either. By and large, a true Christian seems to be fair, believe in goodness, etc. But, I have a hard time considering all the blasphemy I see here as being Christian...they are not, in any system, Christians. They continuously commit sins by their OWN standards...strange bunch.

It is the nature and quality of a relationship that matters: one must not judge it by its outward appearance but by its inner worth. Homosexual affection can be as selfless as heterosexual affection, and therefore we cannot see that it is in some way morally worse. Homosexual affection may of course be an emotion which some find aesthetically disgusting, but one cannot base Christian morality on a capacity for such disgust. Neither are we happy with the thought that all homosexual behaviour is sinful: motive and circumstances degrade or ennoble any act. We see no reason why the physical nature of a sexual act should be the criterion by which the question whether or not it is moral should be decided. An act which (for example) expresses true affection between two individuals and gives pleasure to them both, does not seem to us to be sinful by reason alone of the fact that it is homosexual. The same criteria seem to us to apply whether a relationship is heterosexual or homosexual.

God loves all people, whatever their sexual orientation, and my conviction is that sexuality is an important part of human beings as created by God, so that to reject people on the grounds of their sexual orientation is a denial of God's creation

These are what I refer to as "Cafateria Christians." They grase through Christianity as if it's a banquet where they can pick and choose what passages they want to and disregard the rest if it doesn't fit their life.

Usually the main message that gets lost is the one of love and compassion for all humanity. All people are created by God, not just the white, anglo, blue eyed, right handed, heterosexual, males.
It disgusts me when so much of the great message of the Bible is layed to waste and rot. It's dishonest and a slap in the face of God.

Yes, we were all given free will, but free will to hate is a free will lost to evil.
We, as children of God, are given spiritual food. A balanced diet of good and bad. New and exciting ideas as well as standard and time tested. What all too many forget is just as with food we take to sustain our bodies, if we allow spiritual food to sit out too long it will indeed rot and go bad.
It's this spiritual food that too many Haters have chosen to toss at the gay/lesbian community, treating us worse than dogs!
No one would feed rotten food to a dog! Why feed rotten spiritual food to our fellow human beings?

Yeah, those people are not true christians. I believe that people should stop taking the bible so literally. God made each of us different for a reason. If he truly didnt mean to create homosexuals, then why are there so many of us?

There is way more about the homosexual lifestyle that what you see in Leviticus. But because you are so closed minded you haven't seen it and if I pointed it out to you, you wouldn't even bother to look at it. Because you have your mind made up that God didn't mean what He said. You are looking for an excuse to do what God condems. Sorry for you.
