is it a good book, and do you think it is a good choice for a 14 year old to read? someone in my gym class read it and told me it was good. thanks!

It's scary. The characters are very well constructed. The mother, obsessed with religion, is very powerful. I even wrote a book a few years back were a kid had to sleep in a room full of statues of saints, because his mother was a religious fanatic. He often had dreams about the statues walking towards his bed at night. I realized, much later, that I had built that character (the kid's mother) inspired in Carrie's mother.

Yes, its a good book to read at 14. There are a lot of things the book explains that the movie didn't. So if you saw the movie first, that's okay.

It is a really good book, but I don't think any Stephan King books should be read till at least 16 years old.

Its good. A little disturbing for a 14 year old unless supervised by a parent.

It is a super book, his very first. It's pretty violent and raw. But it really makes you think twice about being cruel to people who are "outcast". A mature 14-year-old shouldn't have a problem with it.

If you don't scare easily it's fine.... I read it when I was about 15-16 scared the heck out of me, but it was a fun scare. King messes with your mind .

Better than the film but I can't recommend it for a 14 year old without knowing the 14year old myself

good book, however a very old book. Its okay for a 14 year old any book is okay as long as you understand the book.

depends on what kind of 14 year old you are . do you like horror? i love steven king...his books and movies. i have a 6 yr old boy who loves IT by steven king. my daughter is afraid of it...so it all depends
