I have someone who is bugging me and I want to have it so he doesn't know when I am on the internet, I don't want to be rude just want to know if there is a way for him not to know when I am on the internet. I don't even know how to get on my IM anyway. Need detailed info please.

just right click on their name, and chose the option that says block buddy

You didn't say which Instant Messenger you are using. Usually when you click on the I.M. to start, you have the option of being invisible to every one.

Most instant messengers have an 'IGNORE' button. Click it and then he wont be able to 'see' you.

Just set yourself as invisible. You can make it for just him or for everyone.
