my boyfriend, over the last few months has been getting fake emails from some1 claiming 2 b called sally anne.the first 2 were short and sweet, saying she'd found his details in her yahoo 'datefolder', and would still like to meet.I am 100% certain its a spam as i know others who've had it.tonight he got 1 in more detail, saying that if he clicks in the link he could see a pic. as curious as we were,i said not to, as it is all a scam, and would probably be a virus. ive asked this? before, but has any1 else experienced anything similar, and can any1 explain why my man gets these spam emails, and what is there purpose. what will happen if u click the link????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You're right, this is dodgy, and these scams work because they play on your curiosity. Unfortunately just opening one of these e-mails lets the sender know the account is active - it mails back home when you open it.

Never open a mail if you don't recognise the sender. And never click on a link in one of these mails. Just mark them as spam or block them, and delete without opening.

Its safest to have anything up to 3 e-mail addresses; the first is strictly private and you treat it like an ex-directory phone number; the second is more public and oyu give it to friends, and the third is open and you delete it every 3 months and get a new one as the spam rolls in!
You also need at least one program that scans your e-mail before you open it; both Avast and AVG anti virus will do that. Trojans are also a problem and Ewido anti trojan would be a good idea, as well as a firewall - not the Windows one.

The details of this scam aren't important - they're all basically the same. You have to learn to look out for the pattern and not to worry about the small details.

Dixie is the suspect and is the guy on trial for the homicide and sexual attack of Sally Anne no longer Lewis Sproston.
