Your going to get a lot of suggestions here, but with red ants your going to need more help. Not many folks understand that red ants are hard to deal with, and the reason is that they like and do live, inside your drywall, yes between wall studs. A nest contains one or more queen ants, who lay eggs, and development from egg to adult takes from 38 to 45 days.

To locate ant nests, investigate movement patterns. Worker ants will often lead you back to the nest. A good technique is to use small bait stations to trick the ants into revealing their nest locations. Use soft-drink or pill-bottle caps baited with small amounts of peanut butter, mint apple jelly, bacon grease or other attractive materials. One or more of these foods will attract the ants. Watch them as they locate the food and take some of it back to the nest.

You've probably spent a fair amount of money on ant killers already. If nothing above works for you, or is just taking to long, I suggest you bite the bullet, so-to-speak and hire an exterminator. After they are done, carefully look outdoors at your foundation, when you find even the smallest opening, seal it.

There is a nice product on the market that I use and have much proven faith in. If interested: Walla Walla Environmental has introduced Bug-Juice Insecticide Paint Additive, the only insecticide paint registered by the EPA for both exterior and interior usage. Good Luck.

Boric Acid it is a white powder, get it at a natural product store or pharmacy put a thin line of it around and under sinks around foundation under steps going into the house on window sills where children and animals cant get too it. It definitely works and does not take 30 to 40 days to work neither does it cost a lot. I paid about $6.00 for 4 oz and used about 2 oz for the aunts I had to get rid of. I used a sheet of paper and rolled it into a funnel then dusted a thin continuous line where I wanted it.
