Pro Active really does work I use it everyday and I had the worse acne ever now I only have one or two every once in a while, but I also stopped using heavy foundations. I recommend bare-escentuals (bare-minerals). I started using it about a year ago and it helped my face more than anything. It is all natural and a powder substance, yet it still covers I would say better than heavy thick foundations. You can buy it at ulta.com or the bare escentuals website. It is great! By the way, it is kind of expensive, but I bought a full order last new years and I just now need to order again, so it is worth it. You don't use as much and it looks so much better.

I think to a certain extent that Proactiv does work. My skin was going crazy and I was getting pimples and I used it and it did clear them up. However, it dried the heck out of my skin the process! You need to make sure that you moisturize enough because of the benozyl peroxide, it will seriously dry your skin out.

As for MAC makeup...pretty much everything that they make is good quality. It was originally designed for use by makeup artists. I have used their Studio Fix foundation off and on for years. It is a powder foundation and gives very good coverage. I have also used their foundation stick which works well for spot coverage and it is portable, just like the Studio Fix. However, if you are willing to spend the money, I think that Smashbox and Chanel foundations are superior. They are rather pricey, but the quality is there and the finish for both of them is outstanding, especially when coupled with a foundation primer (basically a first layer that makes your foundation go on more smoothly and flawlessly).

I have tried nearly everything! I have skin that does not listen to me, or anybody else for that matter! But, let me make this clear: everyone's body chemistry is different. What may work on you, may or may not work on someone else".

I am not being paid by ProActiv, so my comment will be limited. It works if you exfoliate your skin properly, otherwise, the medicine will just sit on the top level and not sink into the pores...etc. And this goes for any topical acne medication. They ALL work if they can reach to where the bacteria is.

You should try the Dermaroller, which is a small roller with 200 micropins that actually punctures your skin (does not hurt...just slight pinches if you are not used to it) and allows ANY medicine, serum, lotion, etc to be thoroughly applied. It has a large celeb following by the way, and I use it...love it! Here is a link to the Dermaroller: http://www.leafandrusher.com/browseproducts/DermaRoller.HTML . It sells for $90.00 and is well worth it! Why buy acne medication if it can't even reach the bacteria?

As for MAC, I used to use it religiously, and was ALWAYS complemented. The problem I had though, was I used too much, and people used to ask me what type of make-up I had on, because it was so nice with my skin tone. I wanted to wear make-up, but look like I had 'good skin' not 'good make-up'...see? Use a little of MAC, because they are highly concentrated, and it's a wonderful brand. Expensive, yes, but worth it. Also, consider Loreal's truematch (http://www.loreal.com ), which is what I use when I want to look 'flawless' for pictures or special events, BUT not look like I have make-up on!

i like proactive but you can get similar or better products for less money. use cetaphil cleanser and their moisturizer and a benzoyl peroxide will help with the occasional breakout. just put it where you need it not all over or you'll dry out your skin and make the problem worse. there are many formulation of MAC foundation. there is studio fix which is great for someone who wants light to med coverage and it's convienant. the best one for light but really good coverage is actually the face and body makeup. i know it sounds crazy but it's wonderful but it's only available online and at the pro shops. I worked for MAC as an artist for awhile so i really know the line.

I have heard that Proactive does not work on Asian skin. A patient in my office used it,and it did nothing. I saw her from the first day she bought the product. IMHO I think it made her skin worse, and I saw her every other day. I like MAC foundation, only used it several times; any foundation after several times makes my skin red (but that is just me I have rosecea, it may not be the makeup; I use a sponge to apply, I think I just have sensitive skin). If you think you might like it, and if it is within your budget, try it, or ask for a sample.

I used Proactive for the first time last week, and let me tell you--

The active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide. In fact it contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. If you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide like myself, it will not work for you. It resulted in an adverse reaction: rashes, itches and a burning sensation to my skin.

The good thing however is their money back guarantee. Take a chance and try but there is no guarantee that it will work for your skin type.

Never tried mac ...

Proactive does work!!! I ve been using it for years ever since they only sold it on QVC. If you dont have bad acne then it helps prevent it. If you do have bad acne then it will clear it up for sure!!! It doesnt dry out your face either. As for the MAC i havent used it, but i have heard great things about it. Hope this helps
