My boyfriend and I have been together for a little over 2 years now. I even have moved out to Chicago for him because he got a job out here. My family is back in Connecticut. We have talked about marriage and children. We have even looked at engagement rings but he still has not asked. I have had a few talks with him about this subject, but he says everything is fine and he will ask me. Please help me out here guys and let me know what you think and what I should do about this whole situation. I really thank you for your time. :)

Perhaps you've heard the saying, "Why buy the cow when you're getting the milk for free?" He has no reason to commit. You moved for him and make it easy for him not to commit. Ask him. The justice of the peace is open all week long and Vegas...well they're open 24/7 for that kind of thing. If he doesn't want to deal with the situation at the moment then I suggest you move out and give it a little break and see if he misses you. You haven't made any major mistakes yet. Make him show he deserves you. You've done enough.

On the other hand, how is your relationship over all? If it is good then why worry? A marriage certificate only enures that he is legally responsible for you and you for him. It does not secure his committment to you. In many states you have to get a divorce whether you were married or not when you break up. It depends on many factors.

Being married shouldn't change how you are living right now. The last thing anyone wants to hear is, "are you going to marry me?" It's always good to discuss the future, and to plan ahead, but don't let little things like being officially married change ya. Maybe he's going through some personal issues, or maybe he just wants to save enough money to purchase that sooo deserved ring of yours. As long as you both are extremely happy now, don't worry about the whole "married" thing. As for the committing thing... he is with you now and has been for the last two fun filled years right? As long as he has be faithful and loving, I would say that he is committed already. smile

the same as girls dont like to be rushed into things he wants to take it slow. be understanding and dont push him he obviously loves you loads and maybe hes just waiting for the right time.

i wouldnt be surprised if he doesnt ask. if he hasnt already, he might not. he looked at rings, but he didnt buy one yet! move out and he will suddenly propose. i promise.
