We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

We (those of us who live here in the United States), want to make a great country, where our people are safe, and therefore we declare that we have established a government, and you can find the basic rules of this government in the text below.

Hey, We're going to make a sweet country with a fair and balanced justice system, let everyone live in peace, defend our citizens, take care of them and make sure our kids get a good life too. And We're going to do that by writing this constitution.
