I have lots of ideas and work hard. Is it all about networking? Do you need to be known to get anywhere?

Write and send it to a publisher. Join a writers group which will help with finding publishers as well as your writing or take a creative writing course

My guess would be, get good at crime, read other crime writers, learn the lingo, figure out what you wanna write about and go out and get it. Study criminal law, and like i said the lingo and you'll be able to impress with your lingo and style.

not really, you can read about crime what happened to the world,and you can write a play and used people to give you an idea.

you don't need to be known you have to impress them either with a sample from your book or the whole book , its hard work getting published but any one can do it . make sure you investigate your story well so if you need to have facts etc you have them investigate names , places so you are not by mistake telling someones story or as it relates to them . hope this helps , good luck

I suggest you frequent seedy areas where criminals hang out. Try to befriend some, who may in an unguarded moment brag about their misdeeds
You then have authentic material to write about

try going to the cop shop and ask the cheif how they choose who they let do the stories or how to get you foot in the door for doing crime reports
