You need to go to the Mexican Consulate in California, they will surely ask you to present documents that show that your parents are Mexican, first if you haven't already, they will ask you to register as a Mexican (you can do this because in Mexican Law, Nationality is acquired either by ius sanguinis (through blood, being born of Mexican Parents) by ius terrae (being born in Mexican Territory) or by Naturalization.
Since your parents are Mexican you are already Mexican, you just need your nationality recognized by the authorities.
Once that process is done, you will be able to get a Mexican Passport.

You are not entitled to a Mexican passport, what you need is a US passport, because you are a US citizen.
What you need to do is go to your local post office and apply for your US passport, with that you can travel abroad. You will need that starting next year if you travel by plane or boat.
There is dual citizenship, but that is obtain if you were to apply for permanent residency in that country and then you applied for the citizenship. Not all country allow that.
When I became a US citizen I renounced to my mexican citizenship.

Then you don't qualify for a Mexican passport as you are not a Mexican citizen but a citizen of the US and will qualify only for a US passport.

First you get citizenship ... then a passport. Ask you local consulate what you need as proof that your parents were born in Mexico ... and then provide it.

So you're American... and need to apply for an American passport; this will allow you to travel world wide.

You're heritage has nothing to do with your citizenship.
