If this is her first child, go on to work. If not the first then that is a little more difficult. I had one induction(2nd child) and baby was born within three hours of my induction, my second induction (4th child) wasn't delivered until about12 hours later because she kept flipping around.

If I was going to be induced, whether it was my first / last child I would want my husband there...but if this in not your first and she has a history of going into labor quick, then yes I would stay with her....someone can always call you when she is 1/2 , 3/4 the way there...depending on how far you are from the hospital

Don't go to work. If you want to be there for the whole thing, be there.

Also, having labor induced can cause problems. I had mine induced for my youngest. (she's 11 months old today) I don't wish anything like what I went through on anybody.

Congrats to you and your wife & good luck!!

Lets put it this way, she will probably not be delivering the baby in that short amount of time, but no you should not go to work. I assume your office knows your wife is pregnant? Im sure they dont expect to see you for a few days at least. She will need you in the hospital after the baby is born too for moral support and physically to help her and the baby. A few days at home would be nice too. Having a new baby is kind of scary. I was so happy to have my hubby home for a few days until I felt comfortable that I would be able manage without him.

Unless you really need the money, then be with her. But if you must go to work (and she understands...be SURE she is ok with it) then she will probably not be ready to go by 3:30. I was induced in a Sunday at 7, and my daughter came by C-section on Tuesday at 2....the induction didn't work AT ALL!

Ask her yourself. If it is okay with her then go, but if she wants you there, definitely stay. Money doesn't grow on trees and you have a little one on the way, so you need all the extra revenue you can get. Maybe you can go and inform your supervisor of your wife going into labor, when she feels like she is getting closer to having the baby she can call you and you can leave work. But really? Be straight forward with your wife. If you can't communicate with her about this then you are about to go down a troubled road.

Are you kidding? You need to be there!!! Don't bother going into work that day. I'd be so upset if my husband decided to go to work on the day I was getting induced. This shouldn't even be a question.

once induced the baby can come within a few hours unless it is ok with your wife and you work 5 minutes from the hospital I suggest you just take the day off and be there with her.....Good Luck and Congrats

Tell them she is being induced, so you need the day off, then you can get in a few hours fishing first, or a round of golf.

Yeah skip work unless you are planning on showing up at the last minute. I was induced and it took 16 hours. It was hell on earth and I was glad my hubby was there the whole time so I had someone to yell at! He said my head was spinning like in the exorcist movie and I said things no one wants to hear. Be there - she needs you!
