What was the casue of death for most Katrina victims?

Over 1000 died, some drowned in the flooding flooding, some were sick and elderly, but how did those in the Superdome die. Lack of water? Disease?

Initially the largest cause of death was drowning, preceded by
exhaustion (no place to swim to).

Afterward, it was mostly disease exaserbated by poor
circumstances (no water, no way to clean, no temperature
control).

I haven't seen a break down of the diseases, however.

The leading cause of death in most hurricanes, including that one, is drowning. The reason the death toll was so much higher for Katrina than most is that New Orleans flooded so badly because it's below sea level and the levees broke.

neglect by the Federal government,, and FEMA,, Bush claims he did not know about Katrina for 3 days after the Hurricane happened,, it took 4 days or longer to send in the National Guard

well remember the government wasn't organized enough to get all the people out. remember how much we pointed fingers at bush and the other guy. ironically 4 hurricanes in florida and everybody was safe
