Indeed, opinions are like arseholes - we all have one. But some people's arseholes are better, cleaner, easier to put up with than others. Some people's arseholes are so vile that they should never be aired in public. Same with opinions.

It has a lot to do with the maturity level of the respondent. Just like any venue that is completely open, to where everyone, regardless of background has equal access, you will get a variety of people who answer questions. You will get some who truly take the time to assess the merits of the question, and then martial up a substantial effort with as much deliberation as possible, to answer the question fully and with clarity. You have others who are juvenile and merely use this forum as a way to agitate people. To be a pest to some, gives them great enjoyment.

I would not allow the few who do resort to childish antics to dissuade you from using this forum. For every few bad answers, there are some well thought out ones that make this forum worthwhile.

For the most part I try to give informative answers and back up my information with sites I found it at but sometimes, come on...ask a stupid question get a stupid answer does apply.

Also, some people ask for advice and then when they get negative advice their feelings get hurt and don't understand how people can be so mean but they are the ones that asked for honest answers in the first place. Plus, you are asking a bunch of people you don't even know. Not all people are nicey nice. It's a risk you take.

The Internet has given lots of people a way of communicating their opinions to other people outside of their normal peer groups. So, if those who feel strongly (and may be a little narrow-minded) about something are going to express themselves, especially when they think there's an audiance to hear!
Ask a question about frogs, and you're bound to get an answer by someone who hates them, or was traumatized by one! Hopefully, you'll also get answers from those who think frogs are cool & good.
I suppose it's an aspect of 'individuality'.

I try not to-but it all depends on the question and the mood I'm in.
People shouldn't be on here asking questions if they don't want other peoples' opinions or to share what they know with references.

You ignorant SOB, what is it you are asking? Seems to me like you have an opinion! Welcome to the club.

PS Why are you asking this question? Why do we care?

Enjoy the non-answer to the non-sensical.
