They did experiment with him at WR during his senior year at Indiana, but he was primarily a QB until he turned pro.

Here's the skinny. Antwaan Randle El played one game and part of the 2nd at WR his senior year at Indiana. He was then put back at QB because the QB was not effective and couldn't get him the ball. Indiana went on to finish 5-6 that season and won the Old Oaken Bucket from Purdue for the first and only time in my memory. The College football video game was based on what was supposed to happen that season, and it did, but only for one game. Randle El has been the #3 emergency QB at times in his career at Pittsburgh, and threw a few passes on gimmick plays.

Randle El even played a preseason game at QB his rookie year.

You're wrong, why would they move one of the all time biggest quarterback threats in college history to wr his last year?
