I keep coming up with the vertex of (1,-9) and the x intercept of -8. If you can walk me through how you came about your anserws that would be great- Thanks!

y intercept is when the x = 0, so sub 0 to x and you'll get it. same thing applies to the x intercept. As to the vertex, the formula is (-b/2a, VD/4a)

ax^2+bx+c

D = B^2-4ac

V<< square root

y intercept is found when x = 0

ie f(x) = 8

x intercept when y = 0

0 = x^2 - 2x -8
0 = (x-4)(x+2)
so x = 4, x = -2
