i have mag wheels that haven't been used for quite awhile. I would like to try and restore some of their old luster. They were sitting in my cellar completely exposed to the climate.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

In Europe mag referes to magnesium not aluminum ( in the US mag means multi spoke???).
If they are magnesium check for cracks and any deterioration as these wheels have a shelf life ( Ask jaguar aficionados).
If they are Aluminum as stated clean with any metal polish then coat with HAIR SPRAY. It will work as well as lacquer but can be easily removed and replaced using hot soapy water and a re-polish. A lot easier than having to strip wheels after a winters use and will stand up to daily use you can use hair spray on any polished item.

Get some Billet metal polish - about the best stuff on Earth.

Just make sure the mags are real metal, not just a coating.
