I know I want to be a Math teacher for Middle or High School, but I've been hearing conflicting opinions on what degree I should obtain, or which approach would be most successful for me. I would appreciate any help, especially from current Math teachers.

BSc in Math, followed by a BEd in Secondary Education (specializing in math). This gives you a solid foundation in math skills plus the skills you need to teach. There is so much more to teaching than just communication of your knowledge to the students- a BEd program will really set you up for classroom success more than just a certificate. As part of your BSc, take some general science classes as well to increase job opportunities- most schools prefer to hire teachers who can teach "Scimatics" (I don't know if that's a real term or just something we toss around in the staff room at my school).

BA anything higher then that works too the higher the more money.Im working on my AA right now for high school math teacher then getting my BA. I say start in a community college that has a good education program a get your AA unless you want to jump straight into a university, but a community college and 4-year transit is cheaper cause once you hit the 4-year university your technically a junior cause credits transfer so i say start your path in a community college. im taking classes right now that teach students how to teach math to high schoolers, and im in a community college. But really its your choice.

I have a BS degree in the Teaching of Mathematics. Check with the college you're planning to attend. You have to make sure that you fulfill the requirements for certification in your state. Your college's education school should have a curriculum set up to do that.
