Good point. I think it's perhaps because they are often in big old houses who used to belong to the rich of these old towns. Could be the answer. I don't know why anyone would want to build a new one on a hill, twood be crazy innit!!!!

not all of them are. i live in florida where there are no hills and we still have nursing homes. maybe in most places they are because they want to give the people a nice view. and if it sits high up on a hill, it looks more stately and like a nice place to stay.

They are on a hill so that when the residents wonder off their *** will insanely roll and tumble down the hill. Then when they come to a stop, they might come to the conclusion- maybe I shouldn't be wandering my *** off where I shouldn't be!

I would love to say it's for the view but sadly I believe it is to show the elderly the life they are missing out on........and to stop them escaping to it! :)
