Fortunately, with time, surveys indicate that a question like this will sound as bad as the following: "Do You Think Marriage Between Negroes And Whites Should Be Legall?[sic] Why Or Why Not?"

Opposition to gay marriage cannot be justified on any legal or moral grounds (at least in societies that embrace the Universal Declaration of Human Rights). Opponents to gay marriage haven't been able to put any reasons forward. All that these human rights abusers seem to have in their arsenal are unsupportable and irrational religious claims that gay marriage will somehow undermine straight marriage. I have never heard any specifics on how this undermining is supposed to happen. It won't because it can't. If anything, gay marriage strengthens the whole idea of marriage for all people. Opponents of gay marriage don't care about the institution of marriage, they only care for some perverse reason about keeping gay people as second-class citizens.

There is hope; the majority of young people tend to embrace the ideals that every person has worth as an individual and do not accept an anti-gay bias, even if their parents think differently. This is party due to young people being exposed to the rich diversity of gay people who are open about their sexuality, before lies perpetuated about gay people can be instilled.

Just think of the things we can accomplish as a society once we are able to treat all people with dignity.

You're probably being crucified by the religious right - uh wrong - so here's someone who agrees with you. Why the hell not? If two people care for each other and have been together for a number of years, shouldn't they be entitled to all the benefits of a heterosexual couple such as insurance, death benefits and the like?

Some of the Bible beaters are no doubt gathering their arsenal of scriptures from that fairy tale manifesto saying its unnatural and on and on. Yet, they condone incest. If they read their Bible closely, its fairly evident Cain and Able did it with Eve and for all we know, Adam made it a threesome or even a foursome. That's one of those facts they conveniently overlook when they condemn gay marriage as being unnatural.

I have gay friends as well and while their lifestyle is considerably different than mine, hey they're happy. As the old Sly Stone song from the late '60's says "different strokes for different folks."

No I don't.
Because marrige is the union of 1 man and 1 woman. This is the natural way of things.
After all, God created Adam and Eve - NOT Adam and Steve.
Because the Bible strictly forbids any kind of homosexual activity.
Because 2 men can not procreate anymore than 2 women. Which is the natual way of things. Look around you. How many people or animals got here without the male/female union?

I once had a friend that was Gay. I didn't know it until the issue came up on the elctoral ballot.
I told her exactly how I felt and why I was against it and reminded HER of what she had once told me that she belived the words and teachings of Jesus Christ. I never heard from her again.
So while I do not hold anything in particular against a person who is gay, I do NOT approve of gay marriage.

Yes it should be legal because why shouldn't people be able to marry the person that they really love? and for all the people that said no because of some religious reason or any other reason...go jump off a really high building cause no one likes you not even God.

There is nothing wrong with gay marriage. I don't see where conservatives get all their crap about how polygamy and all their other sick fantasies.

Marriage is about a monogamous relationship between two CONSENTING ADULTS. No one else involved. I know more monogamous gay couples than I do monogamous straight couples.

If you look at the places that practice polygamy, you will notice that they are heavily conservative. So there goes that argument.

I was raised in a traditional Catholic family, and though I no lomger practice that faith I still believe that if you want to be gay go ahead, but keep it to yourself. I do not think that marriage is something same sex couples should engage in. Leave something for us married couples to be proud of. A few weeks ago a family friend took my kids to a local lake to go fishing, and my 11 year old came home and told me about the two girls in the stream making out right in front of them! Gay rights make USA look irresponsible in my opinion.

I believe it should be legal. God is all about love. If two people of the same sex truly love each other they should be allowed to marry. Something should only be illegal if it hurts someone else if you do it. Two consenting adults deciding to marry each other does not actually harm anyone else even if they are homophobic.

How can we have freedom of religion when our own government says, you can have freedom of religion as long as it follows our rules?

I actually don't understand why this is being discussed.Religion and the 'slippery slope' arguments don't hold, because simply, gays want to get married for the same reasons straight people do.

Marriage is about love. Why discriminate? This is America. Eveyone is created equal, right?! There is absaloutley no reason why two people who are in love and want to spend their future together cant wed. I support all marriages.

The entire problem is with our laws. No one should care about who "lives" with who. It has become a legal battle of rights between two people. Marriage has become too "legal", so said our system has become so morally hypocritical.
