Because the classic ones were intelligently written and the networks weren't in the hands of investors who treated them simply as factories. As a result, standards are much much lower and acting is much more synthetic. It's a tragic commentary on our times when title animation is the most appealing element of a program.

I hate to say it but this means that you don't find the humor in new sitcoms as easily as you find it in classic sitcoms. If you think about it, it's a sign of getting older.
I loved goofy sitcoms as a kid and can't stand to watch the same things now. It's all part of growing up, I'm afraid. At least you can buy DVDs of classic sitcoms and TV shows!

They are still funny. It's just a different kind of funny. The world is a more open place today. So, they have so many more topics to rag on.

Because it's a question of ratings than quality. Bring back the shows that actually had a live audience,not canned. THAT is how you tell if a show is good or not.
