That's incorrect because the Taliban weren't fighting the Soviets. They were called the Mujaheddin. Which then separated and some went on to form the Taliban while others formed their own militias and a group of militias even went on to form the Northern Alliance which fought against the Taliban.

Nice try.

Taliban was created by Pakistan with direction and financial help from USA to fight communist and then Soviet Union. Now they tuned their south pole against USA.But Pakistan is still supporting them with arms and money. It is a very complicated story, please search the web for more information on this subject. It is very much possible even today that every thing being done is for show only. The importance of Afghanistan lies for the gas pipe line that will be made from capcian sea in central Asia.

I am still laughing, the Soviets were our enemy, when you fight an enemy you must do what is necessary to defeat them. Sometimes you even have to deal with unsavory characters to do so. Especially when the enemies stated purpose is to kill you and take over the world.

Yours is the same attitude that will cost us the war on terror. political correctness has no place in war.

although i wouldn't consider it funny....

every government who has ever been in power has at one time or the other had to co-operate with someone who will at another time be their enemy. i.e. japanese, germany, russia, etc....we were at war with them but now we are allies and working together. things change and sometimes you have to work with your enemy for a short period of time to overcome a bigger and more threatening enemy. you hope that in co-operating you can forge an alliance that will be loyal to one another but when two countries do not have the same values or goals then you have to accept its a short term relationship born of desperation. its called politics, self preservation and reality.
