I think there is a lot of racism still present. There are a lot of people, unfortunately, who will not vote for a person of color. There are even many who will not vote for a female.

The country as a whole is controlled by the white establishment. A person of color would essentially be a 'white' president, even though he personally is not. The populace has to cross several threshholds. First, having a female president, then a minority president. And not necessarily in that order. The population has to mature to accept this change. By keeping the population dumb and stupid like Bush is doing, he is guaranteeing the future of while rule.

Up until the present, whites have been the majority in this country or at least the majority of the voting population. People vote for who they are comfortable with. Perhaps a person of color will get further if they can unite other races rather than just their own race

Several have. Barak Obama, Carolyn Mosely Braun were in the senate. Several are in the House of Reps. Doug Wilder was governor of VA. That is just the African Americans. Bill Richardson is Hispanic and governor of NM and former Ambassador to UN and Sec of Energy also a frequently considered presidential candidate.

Bring forth a credible candidate that will have the whole nations best interest and not just their race and you may see them elected. Believe it or not, the President does represent all people of this nation. Barrack Obama want the illegals to stay, and Condeleeza Rice backs affirmative Actions. So that knocked them both out in my book.

ITS not race it is ability and so far none have the abilities the Americans think are needed
No reason and facts to support your stance is why you pulled he Race card
Maybe if the so called black leaders or leaders of color stood for self reliance and not government dependency
Stop using race to cover their short comings

I am white so is my wife, yet we believe that beloved Rev. MLK would have been the first black president. He was extremely popular with majority vote due to so many minorities in USA and many of us whites who loved the man too.
