Oxidation:
Zn -> Zn(2+) + 2e

Reduction:
10H(+) + NO3(-) + 8e -> NH4(+) + 3H2O

Multiply oxidation equation by 4 and combine reactions
4Zn + 10H(+) + NO3(-) -> NH4(+) + 3H2O + 4 Zn(2+)
add 9 nitrate ions to both sides
4Zn + 10H(+) + 10NO3(-) -> NH4(+) + 3H2O + 4Zn(2+) + 9NO3(-)
combine the protons, zinc ions, ammonium ion with nitrate
4Zn + 10 HNO3 -> NH4NO3 + 4Zn(NO3)2 + 3H20
