Depends on what is 'normal' to that teen. Maybe that teen prefers face-to-face interaction. I had a friend that I was teens with who hated long phone calls. It's not entirely unheard of.

Yes. I know alot of teens who hate talking on the phone.

normal is a personal definition...
but I'm sure a lot of teens don't like to talk the phone..

Sure, I didn't particularly like it either, I like to look at people's faces while they talk. Body language and expression says so much more than words sometimes.

yes it is also normal for him to ignore television, heat his home with newspapers (rather than read them), grow his/her own food, and instill joy in all beings everywhere
