Not exactly, the are both portable computers, but some items cannot be classified as laptops, because they get so hot. Like Apple's products had to say "notebook" because they get extremely hot and might cause burns to your lap. So technically, the are the same thing, but more technically, they're not (if you get what I mean) =)

No, a laptop is a normal laptop, that u use and open and close, a notebook has the convertable option with touch screen, what they use in schools now.

Basically yes
The idea is that you do not put them on your lap but on a hard surface. They create a great deal of heat and will slow down if they get too hot
