The Gift of A Friend

There are days when
bubbling from us comes
the innocent child within,
who giggles at the little things
and wears a silly grin.

There are days when
depression comes to visit for a while.

The mind feels tired, the body weak,
we have no strength for a simple smile.

There are days when joy abundant,
grabs a hold of you and me.

Wraps us up in all it’s splendor,
lifts us up and sets us free.

There are days when sorrow wraps us,
in it’s cloak of grief and fear.

Till our hearts ache to the breaking,
until our eyes can’t shed a tear.

There are days when love bestows us,
with its wonderment and light.

The beauty of its mystery,
its power and its mite.

And there are days when life rewards us,
and seems to make amends.

By granting us a marvelous gift,
the precious gift of you. ! My friend. !

Absolutely. I think the freaks and weirdos make up a small percentage of the people you meet online (unless you frequent the wrong type of place). Those people aren't interested in regular day-to-day chat anyhow. Given those assumptions, if you can find someone you get along with well and can keep a steady correspondence with, there's no reason why that person can't become a real friend. It's like a penpal, except with instant messaging and all that, it's a lot easier.

For myself, I have made some friends online but it seems that if you don't keep in touch for a little bit, the friendship is over. But, the friends I know and actually met stick around.

I guess it all depends on the connection you have with these people and what you want in the end.

Hope you can make some good friends on the way!

Yes, I have made some very good friends online. As others here have said, you have to be cautious until you get to know the person well.

Why of course... I still have friends I made back in the eighties on dial-up BBS systems... then later, in the early nineties, on the Internet... We all still keep in touch and get together when we can, which isn't to often because of distance... I consider everyone of them a unique and good friend...

absolutely...

i LOVED playing yahoo! pool in high schoo.. (which was more than 3 years ago).....i used to go on alllllll the time and alot of times i'd get really tired of the dumb guys that would only wanna play to chat dirty.... so i was pretty picky about who i'd let sit at my table... one day this guy came and we started a game...but he initiated genuine and interesting conversation. before i knew it, we had been playing for like, 5 hours or something just pool and talking. it was really fun and we still keep in touch and play pool from time to time....he e-mails me whenever about whatever and it's really cool because, eventhough we've never met (aside from web-cam messenger interaction) we're pretty good friends who can talk about anything and totally cool....

he lives in new zealand and i'm in california
