How should it be prepared? Fresh/frozen? I havn't eaten that many varieties of fish, so I was also looking for some suggestions. I know that I like Haddock, are there any other fish types that would be similar that I may like as well, possibly less expensive?

That's rediculous to tell me to stay away from fish while I am pregnant. I know for a fact that it is recommended for prenant women to eat fish several times a week, I just wanted to know more about which kinds I should eat.

These below are a list of seafood my doctor said I can consume as much as I want!:
bass,catfish,cod,croaker,flounder,freshwater perch,haddock,herring,mackerel,marlin,ocean perch,orange roughy,pacific halibut,pollack,red snapper,salmon,scrod,sole,clams,crab,lobster,oysters,scallops,shrimp
He did however say not to exceed a total of 12 ounces or more of fish a week!
Some of these people on here don't know what the heck they are talking about. If you question this, then ask your doctor!

I had catfish during pregnancy and produced a health boy, if that matters. There are some fish like Tuna that might have high levels of mercury. Even then, a serving or two per week will be fine. If you like salmon, get wild, not farm raised.

Five of the most commonly eaten fish that are low in mercury are shrimp, canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, and catfish. Those are the fish you can eat. You sholuld avoid shark, swordfish, king mackerel, or tilefish, which contain high levels of mercury.

Stay away from all lake fish, all shellfish, all catfish, swordfish, mahi mahi (dolphin) and eat limited quantities of tuna fish (only one can per week).

Salmon is probably the best for you. The ocean caught is much healthier than the farm raised.

I would stay with river fish and fish that is thoroughly cooked. Generally, Mackeral and Salmon are OK. Tuna and shellfish has high mercury.

I would stay away from fish. Lots of kinds of fish contain mercury, which can result in some pretty nasty birth defects.

I ate a can of tuna or two a week and halibut/cod a few times a month and both of my kids are fine

Mackrel is NOT ok as it can contain high levels of mercury. Sardines are good (with bones) as they have a good level of protein. Tuna is fine in moderation, tinned more so than fresh.
