I agree that an average GOOD paint job will cost your between $800 and $1200. Keep in mind that they may quote you a price over the phone, but that doesn't include everything. They will charge you for small dent repairs and scratches. These types of damages will cause your paint to chip if they are not repaired before the car is painted. There are cheapy paint jobs that don't last as long as the good ones, and those will average about $300, but be prepared for add ons. This typically does not include painting the door jams.

For the car to be stripped, sanded, prepped and painted, expect to pay upwards of $3500-4000 at a reputable body shop. If there is repair work to be done to the body before painting, you can add that to the cost. Most body shops work by an hourly shop rate. The simpler the job, the less work involved, and the less it costs you. The $300 or $400 Maaco paint job will look exactly like a 300-400 job, and you probably won't like it. Then, it'll cost you more than the good paint job to fix it and make it presentable.

A cheap Maco job shouldn't run you more than $400. But that is highly not recommended especially if you plan on keeping the car. People usually get cheap paint jobs if they want to sell a car that has had the paint eaten away. Also if you want it in the same color it already is, consider getting touch ups and buffs .. they run much cheaper.

easily $3000 to have it done right. Maaco will not sand and prep car for $300. FYI....Same color is cheaper than changing color because then the door jambs, under hood and under trunk need to be painted also..
