This morning I go out to my car and it chose to act out on me. 2000 Daewoo Nubira.

Odd sound possibly from resonator?

As soon as I turned it on, it started shaking and almost like it was bouncing. The check engine light also came on too. I put it in reverse to see if that may work, but it still was shaking. I then put it in drive and gave a little gas, no result, so I put it back in park and now have no idea what to do.

It does seem to be coming from the engine area. Also, there is no way I could afford to go to a mechanic right now.

I did try driving it (not too far though) and it still does shake when driving.

The light is a constatant, no blinking. My husband checked for a hissing and he says there is none.

The guy at AutoZone said it should be alright to drive in, but with any problem I get so nervous and I am not sure about whether or not it is alright to drive even the three miles to AutoZone.

(I asked this earlier and still confused as to what it could be)

No, none of that has been changed.

I don't even know how to get it to AutoZone to even check for the problem. :(

If the check engine light is on. That means the computer has detected a problem with the fuel delivery system. The most common cause is a bad sensor. Before taking it to a garage, have your husband check to be sure that none of the sensors are unplugged. It's possible that one of the wires came loose or is corroded. Also have him check for soft, broken or unplugged vacuum hoses. If the visible check is OK, a computer scan will have to be performed to find out what the problem is. You can drive it to Auto Zone and they'll check the codes for you.
Good luck.

Car Engine Shaking

That's a tough call. I would not drive a car even three miles if its shaking. That would mean the car is not firing on all cylinders. Why is of course a difficult one over a computer. It could be a timing belt has jumped a tooth, in which case if you drive it you could bend valves.
IT could be electrical. A bad coil a bad wire.
It could be a fuel problem, low pressure from pump plugged filter.
It could be a bad idle circuit, A hole in a boot.
If you can not afford to take it to someone wait until you can.
The light only gives you an idea what is going on and if you drive it to Autozone how do you know that what they find is the problem? You can buy an obd2 reader yourself and read the codes but what you need to know, is not only what the code is but why it happened. Autozone wants it to be a part they can sell you and it sound to me like its more than a oxygen sensor. Save up find a good tech and have it towed in.

I had this problem with my car as well. Car was working fine and when I got off work and started it, the engine was shaking and causing a really rough idle with the check engine light on. I had no idea why it was doing that. Took it to my house and plugged in my diagnosis tool and found that I had a misfire in the 5th cylinder. Changed the ignition coil and put new spark plugs and this fixed my issue.

One or more of your engine cylinders is/are NOT active which causes an imbalance which causes engine shaking. Lots of different causes for this. It could be as simple as a unplugged or faulty spark plug to a cracked piston, a broken engine mount will not activate an engine check light. Your next stop should be a repair shop.... you are doing more damage by driving the vehicle around.

If it feels like it's choking on the gas and has had a problem recently with quittting at stops it could be the engine. My Pontiac did that recently but, you might find more answers if you went on an online car repair board and described all of the symptoms especially, if you 'google' your year, make, and model. Then even if you don't find a board that helps you can run into a lot of people that might have had the same problem and found the solution, even if it's an expensive one, it helps to know.

sorry, I've never heard of a Daewoo Nubira...

the first thing I would try is to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes to let the computer reset itself, then fire it up again and see what happens. If the engine runs smooth and the light goes out, no worries. If the light stays on, you're going to have to have it checked. Sounds like a miss or miss fire somewhere, could be bad sparkplug, wires or cap and rotor if your car has it.
